New Braunfels locals and visitors alike have a fresh spot to stretch their legs and take in the scenery, with the debut of the Alligator Creek Trail. According to the City of New Braunfels' announcement, this 1.1-mile trail is a welcome newcomer to the town’s outdoor spaces, promising a blend of convenience, safety, and natural beauty.

Contracted to Jerdon Enterprise, L.P., the $1.5 million undertaking began its life in November 2024, and now straddles Alligator Creek from Goodwin Lane to Orion Drive. Deputy City Manager Jordan Matney, in a statement obtained by the City of New Braunfels' official announcement, said, “The Alligator Creek Trail is a beautiful addition to New Braunfels’ growing trail system, and reflects our community’s commitment to expanding recreational opportunities, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and connecting neighborhoods.”

The creation of the Alligator Creek Trail isn't merely a solo project; it represents the first stride in a broader scheme to reconnect and rejuvenate the area. An upcoming revitalization of Goodwin Lane will eventually allow the trail to sneak beneath, emerging to thread through Sunflower Ridge and Wasser Ranch neighborhoods and tie into a future northwest park.

Eager pedestrians and cyclists can take to the trail any time between 6 a.m. and midnight, seven days a week. Despite being revealed just yesterday, it's already turning heads with its 10-foot-wide concrete path, beginner-friendly layout, and accessibility for all. The fresh trail doesn't miss a beat for amenities—featuring benches made for catching a breather, with trash cans and dog waste stations sprinkled throughout, guarding the cleanliness for this stretch of New Braunfels. A City of New Braunfels official told the original announcement, “This trail is the first phase of a larger vision for this area.”
