The New Castle County Police are reminding parents and guardians to be cautious about what they share online during the back-to-school season. With many families posting photos of children returning to class, police warn that sharing too much personal information can create safety risks.
In a recent New Castle County Police's Facebook post, police advised against including details such as student ages, teacher names, school names, or exact locations in back-to-school posts. Instead, they recommend using general captions and avoiding any personal or sensitive information.
The guidance is intended to help protect students and faculty by limiting the amount of identifiable information shared publicly. Parents are encouraged to use broad phrases such as “First Day of School” when posting photos, rather than specific identifiers, as per the same Facebook post.
