The New Orleans Police Department has entered the third day of the hunt for Bryan Vasquez, a 12-year-old non-verbal boy reported missing from his home in New Orleans East last Thursday. A statement from the New Orleans Police Department, obtained by WWLTV, calls for the public's vigilance, advocating for the inspection of backyard sheds and the review of video surveillance footage. Detective Mario Bravo, who specializes in recovering missing and exploited children, is at the helm of the investigation.
According to a WGNO report, the Special Victims Unit (SVU) of the New Orleans Police Department, which focuses on missing and vulnerable juveniles, is now leading the case, with efforts surpassing 72 hours. They have scaled down active field resources, as reported by FOX 8 Live, yet they continue to conduct neighborhood canvasses and follow up on leads.
Bryan is described as a Hispanic male, with black hair and brown eyes, about 5-foot-1 and weighing between 86-100 pounds. Last seen wearing an adult diaper near his Beaucaire Street home, his non-verbal condition impairs his ability to communicate or understand English or Spanish, as per FOX 8 Live.
The New Orleans Police Department emphasizes "no lead or tip is small," as stated by Detective Bravo in an interview with WWLTV, and urges anyone with information to come forth. Limbs of machinery stretch into brush-clearing gestures by the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board in a canal near Bryan's area, as part of the extensive uses of helicopters, dogs, and drones in the search.
