For those interested in the health and sustainability of their neighborhoods, the City of Oklahoma City and Neighborhood Alliance are providing a free opportunity to engage with city departments. On October 16, from 6-8 p.m., residents can learn how to report code violations and seek guidance on neighborhood beautification at the Civic Center Music Hall Meinders Hall of Mirrors. In a statement obtained by the City of Oklahoma City, Myron Mayberry, Executive Director of Neighborhood Alliance, asserts, "Since 1976, NACOK believes everyone deserves to live in a safe, healthy, and attractive neighborhood. Educating neighbors on city code is a key component of meeting that goal."
The workshop is structured to provide a wide array of information, beginning with a presentation from 6-6:45 p.m. Following the presentation, until 8 p.m., people can visit City staff who are available for questions and support. Embodied by the shared drive for neighborhood improvement, the event's partnership reflects both entities' dedication to the community. The City of Oklahoma City, as a collaborator, demonstrates their commitment to these neighborhood-driven endeavors.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to make a reservation by calling (405) 534-4040 or by visiting the Neighborhood Alliance calendar page online. As an additional incentive for community members to become involved, light refreshments will be served at the venue, located at 201 N. Walker Ave.
Action Center Manager Shameka Lee highlighted the significance of the event in maintaining the vibrancy of Oklahoma City's neighborhoods. "Maintaining and encouraging thriving neighborhoods in Oklahoma City is a City Council priority," Lee told the City of Oklahoma City. "Come out and meet the City employees who can help keep your neighborhood on the right track." Emphasizing the beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources, the workshop will offer instructions on the processes of reporting code violations and understanding their investigation and enforcement.
