Senator Adam Pugh, R-Edmond, took the podium at the Oklahoma State Capitol to address a future stitched from the very skies, as the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Multistate Collaborative convened to chart the next chapter in aviation. Drawing from his experience as a U.S. Air Force veteran and chairman of the Oklahoma Legislative Aero Caucus, Pugh discussed the opportunities poised to revolutionize transportation.
The spotlight of the meeting, reported by Oklahoma Senate, shone on emergent innovations, specifically Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (sUAS) and Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) vehicles. Pugh enthused, “This is an exciting time for Oklahoma and for the entire aviation industry,” emphasizing the state’s readiness to welcome a new era of safer, more efficient, and sustainable air travel.
Initiated in 2023, the AAM Multistate Collaborative serves as a national arena for states to synchronize their infrastructure planning, policies, and regulatory environments to safely embrace AAM technologies. Oklahoma's Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics hosted this latest gathering, which underscored the critical role of state and local governments in shaping the ground-level conditions that allow AAM to flourish.
The day’s proceedings included insightful presentations from industry stakeholders and aviation professionals, touching on the imperative of infrastructure development, fortifying public-private partnerships and aligning the state regulations with federal standards. "Through collaboration with our industry partners and fellow states, we can unlock the full potential of AAM, strengthen our economy and further cement Oklahoma’s role as a national leader in aerospace and aviation," Senator Pugh told attendees, as per the Oklahoma Senate.
