Texas Governor Greg Abbott, in coordination with the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), announced that Phase One of the Timmerman Power Plant in Maxwell is now operational and connected to the state power grid.

According to the Office of the Texas Governor’s website, the facility is expected to help meet the state’s growing electricity needs. Once fully completed, the plant will generate 380 megawatts of power. Phase One is the first Texas Energy Fund-supported project to begin commercial operations.

LCRA Board Chair Stephen F. Cooper said the project reflects the authority’s focus on long-term infrastructure planning. LCRA General Manager Phil Wilson noted that the plant is designed to provide dispatchable power that can be quickly activated when needed.

The plant is expected to create more than 300 jobs in the San Marcos area, with Phase Two scheduled for completion in 2026.
