
After nearly four decades of service in law enforcement, Captain Randy Corlett of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is hanging up his badge. Announced in a social media post by the PCSO, Corlett's retirement marks the end of a long, commendable career that began in 1986.
The post highlighted Corlett's tenure, which included commanding roles in the Narcotics Division and the Technical Operations Unit. His career was also marked by brave service in special units such as K-9, SWAT, Street Crimes, and the Violent Crimes Task Force, taking on, high-risk assignments with a sense of duty. It's these roles that defined his nearly 39 years on the force. During his retirement ceremony, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri honored Captain Corlett with a plaque that recognized his substantial contributions.
Alongside the award from Sheriff Gualtieri, Corlett’s colleagues prepared a surprise for him – a shadow box filled with mementos from his many assignments. This personal touch was a nod to the various high-stakes, environments he had navigated throughout his career. The PCSO commended Corlett for his commitment and stated, "We are deeply grateful for your decades of dedicated service and the commitment you've shown to protecting our community."
