A fatal shooting occurred inside a Pineville apartment last night, leaving one man dead and another in custody. According to QC News, Pineville Police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at The Brook Apartments at around 6 p.m., where they discovered Jose Roberto Ferreira, aged 37, with a gunshot wound. Immediate aid was rendered by the officers, but Ferreira was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Johann Manuel Ibarra, had attempted to quickly leave the scene on foot but was later arrested by the Pineville police at a local gas station. "Criminal charges are pending as the investigation continues," WCCB Charlotte reported. Both men were known to each other, and officials emphasized that the act was not random but rather stemmed from some form of acquaintance between the two.
Details about the circumstances of the shooting have not been fully released as the criminal investigations unit continues to interrogate Ibarra. It is said by the Pineville Police Department that Ibarra is expected to face a judge on Monday, as noted in a report by WCNC.
