The Pittsburgh Police Department is on the lookout for a man named Bryant Garrett, age 62, following a violent incident that occurred on Webster Avenue in the city's Hill District back in April. Garrett is accused of a savage attack on a woman, which has led to charges including criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault, robbery, and terroristic threats.
Details released by the authorities suggest that the altercation was spurred by Garrett's accusation that the woman had stolen from him. In the heat of the confrontation, Garrett allegedly wielded a "rusty machete" to strike the victim multiple times. According to WTAE, he used the flat end of the blade on the victim’s head and arm and also attacked her leg with a pole, reportedly threatening to end her life. The woman suffered significant injuries in the assault on April 23.
As the search intensifies, the Pittsburgh Police have issued a public plea for assistance. WPXI reports that Garrett is known to frequent the Hill District, and it's believed he may have altered his appearance, possibly shaving his head and goatee, to evade capture.
The Pittsburgh Police are urging anyone with information about Garrett's whereabouts to contact detectives at 412-255-6787.
