A house fire in Pittsburgh’s Arlington neighborhood left a family of nine without a home yesterday afternoon. According to a report by WPXI, emergency responders arrived at the scene in the 2700 block of Spring Street at around 3:49 p.m. to combat the blaze which resulted in extensive damage to the structure and a vehicle nearby.

One firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion during the firefighting efforts and was subsequently hospitalized, according to officials on the scene, reported by Channel 11. The fire's devastation reached the car of the homeowner's sister, while devastating his home's rear side.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents, seven adults and two children, ensuring they have temporary accommodation and essentials as they grapple with the aftermath, as WTAE reports. Determining the cause is ongoing, but initial assessments suggest the origin to be non-suspicious.

The homeowner, David Strozier, recounted to WPXI his frantic efforts to alert and evacuate his family. Returning from the store, he witnessed his home ablaze. "It was stressing me out because my son was in there, and he just came back from a football game and everything," Strozier said, "and I tried to get in there, and I couldn’t get in there, so I ran to the front of the house and started banging on the door, and I guess they finally heard me." Thankfully, no residents were injured in the incident.
