The renowned Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh is slated for a renaming and a large-scale update, backed by a generous $65 million donation from local philanthropists Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin. The institution, a bastion for fostering scientific curiosity and education, will henceforth be known as the Kamin Science Center, as reported by WPXI.

Set to close briefly from September 2nd through the 12th this year, the center will undergo final refinements before reopening to the public. The preparations lead up to a grand (RE)Launch Day celebration on Saturday, September 13, with the doors opening free of charge from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to a report by CBS News Pittsburgh. The day is expected to be filled with live science demonstrations, giveaways, and sneak peeks at upcoming exhibits.

Furthermore, aside from the revamping of the science center, the Kamin family's philanthropic outreach has not been limited to this single institution. An additional donation of $11.5 million was made to the Heinz History Center, enabling children to enjoy free admission throughout the year.
