Placer County approved a five-year transit plan to increase public transportation use and improve service in western Placer County. The plan will add four electric buses, build two charging stations by 2028, and upgrade bus stops, costing $28.4 million through 2030. Placer County Transit Manager Jaime Wright said, "Placer County is undergoing an exciting transition with our fleet and this vote helps us move closer to our goals," according to the Placer County.

Started in July 2023, the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency worked with multiple transit authorities, including Roseville Transit, to develop the new plan. The recommendations focus on improvements in Auburn, Loomis, Rocklin, Roseville, and Lincoln. Wright said, "Our goals are to increase transit usage, provide an efficient, effective and equitable network of services, and deliver reliable and integrated transportation options for our residents," as reported by the Placer County.

Placer County Transit will roll out its new plan in phases. First, it will collect updated service data and add an ADA paratransit certification feature to the GO South Placer transit app. Next, the transit fleet will transition to fully electric vehicles. Long-term changes will depend on future funding and include larger capital and operational updates. The full short-range transit plan and operational analysis are available on the PCTPA website, as stated by the Placer County.
