The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office is gearing up to ensure a secure and orderly start as schools across the county reopen their doors this August. In a recent social media announcement, the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office laid out its plan to provide a visible presence in school zones and offer assistance with traffic and safety procedures.
As part of a community engagement effort, the Sheriff's Office is encouraging folks to share their first-day-of-school photos online and tag them with #BackToSchoolSafe to promote school spirit and unity. This initiative appears to be a bid to not only foster school safety but to also build stronger ties with residents. "Sheriff’s Office is ready to support a safe and successful return for all students, parents, and educators," the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office shared on their social media platforms.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office is also offering reminders and tips for drivers to be particularly vigilant around school zones. With the increase in pedestrian activity, the law enforcement agency is clearly trying hard to prioritize the well-being of young community members. "Deputies will be visible near school zones, helping with traffic, and working closely with school staff to ensure a smooth and safe start to the year," the announcement explained.
