Two employees at a Queens deli were involved in a shooting incident over the weekend during an attempted armed robbery, according to authorities. The incident took place around 9:30 p.m. last Saturday at a deli located at 84-48 Manton Street in Briarwood, PIX11 reported. An armed suspect pointed a firearm at a 48-year-old employee and demanded money, taking $800 from the cash register.
A 52-year-old deli worker confronted the armed suspect as the individual approached the exit, attempting to intervene. "That’s when the armed man allegedly fired multiple shots at both deli workers, then ran down Main Street," according to PIX11. Both employees were taken to a nearby hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries.
The New York Police Department has launched a search for the suspected gunman, who remains at large. Wearing a black ski mask, black t-shirt, black pants, and black sneakers, the suspect managed to evade immediate capture. As the investigation persists, anyone with pertinent information is encouraged to reach out and provide tips to the authorities.
