Pinal Airpark, the county-owned aviation hub known for converting passenger jets into cargo planes and training military pilots, is on the fast track to getting its own control tower, with considerable help from Representative Juan Ciscomani. The push for the tower, noted as essential for future growth and increased safety at the airpark, has been covered extensively by local officials, including Pinal County District 4 Supervisor Jeffrey McClure, as reported by Pinal County.
Currently, the Airpark hosts several services such as Ascent Aviation Services and the Silverbell Army Heliport, as well as Digiflight, which is poised to commence training with international pilots soon. The increasing multifaceted use of the facility underscores the urgency for enhanced air traffic management.
In a statement made by Pinal County's official government site, McClure highlighted Ciscomani's instrumental role in the movement towards a more regulated airspace at the Airpark, not only stressing the need for added security and efficiency but also emphasizing how the future of the airpark deeply impacts the broader trajectory of Pinal County.
The expected funding for the control tower will come through the FAA and various grants, a testament to the collaborative effort between local governance and federal agencies to secure the needed infrastructure.
