Blaine residents and commuters should brace for a more extensive construction landscape as the City of Blaine rolls out multiple road work projects aimed at improving infrastructure. Travelling through the region will require extra planning, as street closures and detours become the norm for the foreseeable future. Key updates for the week of August 11 include installations of bituminous pavement and concrete curb, along with street grading across different project areas.
According to a recent construction update released by the city, Naples Street is set to undergo sanitary sewer force main replacement from Radisson Road to Lift Station 13 in a three-phased approach. The intention is clear: to bolster the endurance of the city's waste management infrastructure. Phase 1 and Phase 2 are scheduled for 2025, while Phase 3, which will see the replacement of Lift Station 13 itself, is expected to spill into 2026. This initiative underscores a proactive stance in urban planning, even as it momentarily disrupts the rhythm of commute.
Elsewhere in Blaine, the Southwest Area Street Reconstruction project is segmenting its efforts across four distinct project areas. "Construction activities during the week of August 11 will include street grading and the installation of concrete curb and gutter," the update states for Phase 3 of the operation. Meanwhile, touch-ups in Phase 2B and the final lift of bituminous pavement will be completed in tandem with Phase 3 activities, bringing some sections a step closer to fruition.
The road work extends to Lakes Parkway and multiple streets within the southwest region of Blaine – Baltimore Street, 99th Lane, and Davenport Street are just a few of the thoroughfares that will experience significant changes. "Construction is anticipated to begin the week of August 25, 2025 (subject to change)," indicates the notice for both Project Area 3 and Project Area 4 of the 2025 Street Rehabilitation project. This illustrates the city's commitment to consistently upgrading and maintaining its roadways, albeit at a temporary cost to the convenience of its citizens.
