Seattle's Department of Neighborhoods is inviting residents to soak up the last of the summer sun with Play Streets week, slated for September 5-14. In a push to foster community ties and enjoy the outdoors, the Seattle Department of Transportation is streamlining the process for locals to temporarily transform their streets into play areas, free from the hustle and bustle of vehicular traffic, as reported by the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.
The department's recent social media post encourages Seattleites to "host a Play Street in your neighborhood" and provides a link with details on how to learn more and apply for a permit. For those eager to organize their own block party or community gathering, the deadline to apply for a permit is just around the corner – August 25.
