Seattle Parks and Recreation is on the lookout for mentors to join their new initiative, the Seattle Mentors Empowerment Exchange, designed for the city's youth. According to a recent post on Parkways, the program, targeting young individuals between the ages of 13-18, seeks industry professionals and leaders who are eager to foster growth and career readiness through mentorship at various community locations.

Centered around small group sessions, mentors will be guiding 4 to 6 participants, with activities including skill building and career coaching, as per information obtained by Parkways. Scheduled at either Teen Life Centers, community centers within the Seattle Parks and Recreation sphere, or Seattle Public Schools, these mentorship sessions are set to begin this fall. The program's focus aligns with post-secondary preparation and encouraging a healthier lifestyle for its participants.

Those with professional experience and a drive to impact the Seattle community are encouraged to apply, as detailed on Parkways. The program is particularly interested in applicants who have a genuine passion for empowering the younger generation and contributing to community vibrancy. The mentoring stretches across an 8-week cohort this fall, starting in October, but there's potential for continuation through the winter and spring of 2026.

Application proposals must be submitted by September 22, 2025, at 4pm. For considering mentors, the application is for only the Fall 2025 session, and complete details can be found on the Seattle Mentors RFQ website. Questions and further inquiries about the program can be directed to Romell Witherspoon at his email provided in the aforementioned Parkways publication. This mentorship effort is part of a citywide push by the mayor's office to champion youth development and mentorship.
