A recent post from the Shelby County District Attorney's Office has brought to light an attempted murder case presided over by Judge Greg Gilbert. As detailed in the Shelby County District Attorney's Office social media announcement, probable cause was found on Tuesday against defendant Diaquan Williams, who is accused of firing four shots at a repossession driver, striking him in the leg.
On the day of the incident, which has garnered significant attention, a video was used to show the events as they unfolded. The footage, showcasing threats and shots fired at close range, played a crucial role in confirming the allegations leveled against Williams. The judge has since bound over charges that include Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Attempted Aggravated Robbery, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Firearm During Dangerous Felony.
While the circumstances surrounding the case are severe, it is imperative to recognize the legal process and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. The charges Williams faces are bound over to a grand jury, which decides if there is enough evidence to indict.
