Shelly Parker has been named head of Hawai‘i guest operations for both Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, leading their joint operations in the islands. She has 43 years of experience at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. Parker will work with local airport and in-flight crews, join the Honolulu leadership team, and report to Jim Landers, who will become head of Hawai‘i operations when the airlines get a single operating certificate later this year.

Big Island Now reports that Shelly Parker has worked in reservations, maintenance, engineering, cargo, and inflight management. She now oversees more than 2,000 Horizon Air flight attendants and airport agents. Parker has an executive Master’s in Business Administration and Management from the University of Washington's Michael G. Foster School of Business.

"Shelly’s deep and extensive experience across airport and inflight operations – and many other aspects of our business – make her the ideal leader to ensure we deliver a safe and superior experience for our guests traveling to, from and within the islands. Our Honolulu leadership team is looking forward to welcoming Shelly onboard at this exciting time for Hawaiian Airlines," said Jim Landers, as mentioned by Alaska Air. Parker joins Hawaiian Airlines as part of its partnership with Alaska Airlines, which started last September. Together, the airlines operate over 200 flights daily, including nonstop service to 22 destinations and connections to 131 cities in North and Central America. Honolulu has more than 6,500 local employees and is the airlines’ second-largest hub after Seattle.
