San Bruno police officers apprehended a 36-year-old South San Francisco man linked to a Los Angeles kidnapping case and seized a concealed, loaded firearm during a traffic stop, according to an official social media post by the San Bruno Police Department. The arrest occurred on Wednesday, when officers identified and intercepted a vehicle associated with the suspect as it approached a freeway entrance.

"Our weekday dayshift patrol team quickly located the vehicle as it attempted to merge onto the freeway," the department announced in a Facebook post. "Officers safely stopped the vehicle and detained a 36-year-old male from South San Francisco, During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded, unregistered firearm hidden under the center console." The suspect was wanted by the Los Angeles Police Department for kidnapping with the use of a firearm.

Less than a day after the apprehension, LAPD detectives made the trip to San Bruno to recover their suspect, a tactic demonstrating the collaboration between the two law enforcement agencies despite the over 300-mile distance. "Almost 24 hours later, LAPD detectives caught a flight up from sunny Southern California, picked up their suspect, and flew him right back down to face charges in Los Angeles County — no road trip in the back of a police car this time," noted the San Bruno Police Department.

The case against the individual has transitioned to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office, which will reportedly address charges related to the weapons violation. The San Bruno Police Department ended their announcement with a resolve to be tough on crime, regardless of jurisdictional boundaries. "But no matter the distance, we’ll continue working hand-in-hand with our law enforcement partners to make sure dangerous suspects face justice," the department's social media post concluded.
