A St. Louis man with a history of criminal convictions has been sentenced to 12 years for possession of firearms. Derrick Lamar Rodgers, 34, faced U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey and admitted guilt to the charges against him.
Rodgers was arrested on May 24, 2024, when police, apprehending him on multiple warrants, found him in possession of three guns including a 9mm handgun, a shotgun, and a stolen Hi-Point 9mm handgun, as well as synthetic cannabinoid, the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Missouri reported. Due to his status as a convicted felon, Rodgers is legally prohibited from holding firearms.
In court, Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas Lake described Rodgers' past activities, noting his "atrocious" criminal history, "particularly against women." Despite the severity of his background, Rodgers struck a deal securing a concurrent sentence with his pending cases in St. Louis Circuit Court.
The department's Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team was instrumental in Rodgers' arrest. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas Lake, who prosecuted the case, worked alongside the local police to bring the matter to a close.
