
Atlanta residents should prepare for a wet week ahead. The National Weather Service forecasts a high likelihood of thunderstorms and rainfall in the Atlanta area, with dense cloud cover expected to persist over several days. According to the forecast, today’s storms may produce between a quarter and half an inch of rain.
As evening approaches, the chance of precipitation decreases slightly, but showers and thunderstorms are still expected mainly before 11 p.m. Skies will remain mostly cloudy, with temperatures dropping to around 71 degrees. Light winds from the south at about 5 mph may contribute to additional rainfall totals similar to those in the afternoon.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, the forecast calls for continued thunderstorm activity, primarily after 2 p.m. High temperatures are expected to reach around 86 degrees, with steady southwest winds. This pattern is expected to bring recurring showers and thunderstorms through the weekend.
The likelihood of storms may lessen by Thursday, with a 50 percent chance of showers expected in the afternoon. Evening conditions appear relatively calm, with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms before 8 p.m. From Thursday through Sunday, daytime highs are forecasted to stay in the upper 80s, while nighttime lows will consistently range from the low to mid-70s. Days will feature a mix of sun and clouds, with potential thunderstorms occurring in the early evening hours.
As the new week begins, Atlantans can expect a brief break, with a 20 percent chance of storms on Monday. The extended forecast shows that wet conditions will continue, with periods of sunshine occurring between the showers.
