Early morning tremors of violence shook the quiet streets of Marysville as local law enforcement responded to a reported stabbing on the 800 block of 9th Street. At around 5:13 a.m., the Marysville Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene, where they discovered the victim, a man who claimed his niece, Brittany Keeton, was responsible for the attack. Information obtained via the Marysville Police Department's post stated the suspect had already fled.
According to the same source, the victim received treatment for injuries that were serious but not life-threatening. Officers immediately searched the surrounding area and relayed details of the incident to adjacent law enforcement agencies. With the assailant on the loose, a tense calm held the morning at bay, weaving through the city's streets as the Marysville Police Department Detective Unit took over the investigation.
The calm, however, was quick to dissipate, as later that morning, the whereabouts of Keeton led authorities to Yuba City, where she was apprehended without further incident. The detainment brought an end to the search and a temporary resolution to the community's unrest. Keeton now faces grave charges, including attempted homicide and assault with a deadly weapon, and she's been booked into the Yuba County jail. The suspect's apprehension, as reported by officials, brings closure to an episode of violence that interrupted the early hours before many had even risen with the sun.
