A 24-year-old man, previously banned from a Suwanee Walmart for unsavory behavior, found himself handcuffed again after allegedly filming beneath women's skirts in the store. Identified as Jae Ross, he was arrested last Sunday, as confirmed by the Suwanee Police Department, after loss prevention officers at Walmart noticed him taking inappropriate videos—a practice commonly referred to as upskirting. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that Ross was barred from the location after previous accusations of photographing under women's dresses.
According to the surveillance video outlined by Suwanee police, Ross can be seen squatting by a woman in a green dress in an attempt to capture illicit footage. Having responded to the Walmart on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, officers apprehended Ross following a brief chase as he exited the store. Having previously been arrested in November 2024 for similar offenses, Ross was charged with criminal trespass, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and using a device to record or observe underneath clothing. With at least three women reportedly photographed, the Suwanee Police Department has retained Ross' cellphone for the ongoing investigation. However, it was indicated by Atlanta News First that he was released two days later after posting bond.
As part of the statement shared with Atlanta News First, Capt. Robert Thompson of the Suwanee Police Department expressed gratitude towards Walmart's vigilant loss prevention team. "Kudos to Walmart and their loss prevention. They recognized the person had been there before, so they followed him, and as soon as they saw something that appeared to be illegal, they called us," Thompson said, according to Atlanta News First. Ross' phone is still in police possession and they are probing into the possible uses of the captured footage.
In light of the incident, Thompson provided advice to the public on safety measures, "If you feel like someone is invading your space, even if you don’t feel comfortable saying something to them, notify management, move out of that area, call the police. Just be aware," he told Atlanta News First. Ross' current whereabouts are unconfirmed at the time, with FOX 5 Atlanta reaching out for more details and an up-to-date mug shot.
