Residents of a Monroe apartment complex were awakened early Wednesday to the sounds of gunfire and ensuing chaos. According to WSOC-TV, a shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m., leaving a 19-year-old injured. The assailant is reportedly still at large. In the aftermath, Monroe Police, together with Union County deputies, sealed off the area surrounding the Nottingham Lane apartments.
The consequences of the violence prompted officials to evacuate the apartment complex. WBTV reports that the teenage victim was rushed to a Charlotte hospital and is expected to pull through.
