Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has heralded the successful launch of a newly modernized child support system named ChAMP, an acronym that stands for Children Are My Priority. The launch, which took place on June 12, 2025, signifies a major shift from a 30-year-old legacy platform to a secure, cloud-based solution. According to a press release by the Texas Attorney General's Office, the update is aimed at boosting efficiency, simplifying case processing, and improving the customer experience for Texas families dependent on child support services. "ChAMP represents a significant milestone in our commitment to serving Texas families," Paxton remarked in the official statement.
Since its inauguration, the ChAMP system has processed a whopping 3.1 million payments, totaling $614 million in support, outperforming the annual disbursement of 35 other states in just over a month. This remarkable achievement reflects both the scale of the child support program in Texas and the essential need for up-to-date systems to back it. Despite the transition, critical operations such as payment processing and customer service have continued uninterrupted. The Office of the Attorney General's Child Support Division, which manages nearly 1.5 million cases and collects more than $4 billion annually on behalf of children in Texas, has not only maintained its leading role through this upgrade but has also set a new standard for the performance of child support programs, as reported by the Texas Attorney General's Office.
The new Self-Service Portal, as part of the ChAMP initiative, allows parents to log in any time of the day to check case and payment information, a feature that has been tremendously popular, with over a million logins in the first month alone. Moreover, for employers across Texas, over 100,000 have started using the new Employer Portal to report new hires and securely exchange information with the agency. Customers encountering issues or with specific questions can reach out to the OAG-CSD via the website’s chat feature or by calling their helpline, as detailed by the Texas Attorney General's Office.
The modernized ChAMP platform is set to bring a paradigm shift in how child support officers manage cases, with unified data sources and a system that supports streamlined workflows, automated tasks, and real-time data access. A once arduous financial process that could take days due to batch processing can now be finalized in near-real-time, ensuring quicker support to families in need across the state. With a focus on adaptability, the flexible cloud-based platform underpinning ChAMP opens avenues for continual improvement that were unthinkable with the former infrastructure, as per the Texas Attorney General's Office.
