Residents in Tolleson, gear up for some much-needed street maintenance. City officials announced the launch of the Pavement Surface Treatment Project, set to start on September 2 and run through September 22, focused specifically on the business of crack sealing. According to the city's official notice, the affected areas include the east-west streets between 96th Avenue and 91st Avenue, from Harrison Street to Roosevelt Street.
Intending to prevent future road issues, the crews will fill those pesky cracks that are wider than 1/4 inch with a rubberized sealant. The City of Tolleson assures residents that the temporary inconvenience will pave the way to longer-lasting streets. During the daytime work hours, temporary closures and no-parking zones will disrupt the usual flow of things, as made clear with signage posted beforehand. Homeowners looking out their windows can expect to see the work zones established, ready for treatment.
For those with vehicles, the city sends a fair warning: cars parked on the streets during the active work periods will be towed, and that expense lands squarely on the vehicle owner's shoulders. Families in the vicinity should keep both kids and pets at a safe distance from the construction sites to avoid potential risks. The notice calls for residents to be mindful to "prevent tracking material onto personal property such as driveways, vehicles, or shoes."
The Tolleson Development Services Department is the primary contact for questions or concerns and can be reached at 623-478-8733. The city will provide further updates, including detailed schedules and maps outlining the streets involved in the project. Patience is requested from the locals as Tolleson works toward the stated goal of improving "the quality of our community streets."
