Two Detroit police officers were taken to the hospital after their cruiser was hit by a driver who ran a red light at Gratiot Avenue and Lappin Street on Saturday around 6:30 p.m. One officer was knocked unconscious and taken by police, while the other had a head wound and was taken by EMS. A witness, Vanessa Bostic, said, "The impact – I mean you could hear it blocks down, that’s how hard the impact was," according to ClickOnDetroit.

The truck in the crash had two people. One passenger was hospitalized with minor injuries, and the other refused treatment, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit. All involved had non-life-threatening injuries. Police are still investigating the incident and possible charges.

Bostic told WXYZ she is concerned about dangerous driving on Gratiot. "It's very busy, very busy, they like to drag race on this road," she said. Her comments come weeks after a child was killed in another accident on the same road.
