A small aircraft crash occurred on Wednesday morning near Berthoud in Northern Colorado, resulting in serious injuries to the solo occupant. The incident, involving an ultralight aircraft, happened around 8:40 a.m. on Larimer County Road 2, west of LCR 21. The Berthoud Fire Department and the Larimer County Sheriff's Office were the first to respond to the scene, with authorities actively managing the aftermath in the 9000 block of this county road, as detailed by FOX31.

According to CBS News Colorado, Andrew Kuiken, the Division Chief of Berthoud Fire, confirmed that upon arrival, crews found the aircraft ablaze with downed power lines nearby. Despite the aircraft catching fire and the disrupted power lines, two other aircraft were reportedly parked in the field near the site where the third aircraft had crashed, which local authorities are investigating.

The single-occupant ultralight aircraft involved in the crash was significantly damaged after reportedly hitting some power lines, as reported by Denver7. The crash resulted in several power lines falling onto the street, causing a power outage that initially affected 55 customers. Poudre Valley REA crews were dispatched to the site to work on repairing the damage and restoring power to those impacted.
