In Union County, a new fleet of Junior Sheriffs stepped into the morning light, badges gleaming with the promise of a future rooted in community service and law enforcement. The Eddie Cathey Community Room hosted the celebration for the fourth and final class of the 2025 Junior Sheriff's Academy, where Chief Deputy Tony Underwood and an assembly of proud parents and friends gathered to honor the achievements of these young graduates.
During the ceremony, student speakers Avery Tucker and Troy Eklund shared their journey through the program. They provided a glimpse into the week-long experience, "left us all inspired," as described by the official release from the Union County Sheriff's Office website. The enthusiasm and personal growth these students conveyed underscore, the importance of such community initiatives.
The academy, which aims to introduce young people to the inner workings of law enforcement, has evidently made an impact on its participants. The Union County Sheriff's Office expressed its pride in each graduate and extended gratitude to all those who contributed to the summer's successful academies.
Though this year's programs have concluded, the Junior Sheriff's Academy is slated to return in 2026. Prospective participants and their families should, "be sure to keep an eye on our social media and website for when registration opens," a sentiment captured from the Sheriff's Office communication.
