Hawaii's football team, the Rainbow Warriors, may have quarterback Micah Alejado back for their game against Arizona. He attended Tuesday's practice but stayed on the sidelines after an ankle injury in the season opener against Stanford. Luke Weaver, Demaricus Davis, and Caleb Freeman took reps in his place. Head coach Timmy Chang said, "It's day to day right now but he's expected to play," as reported by Spectrum Local News.
Despite not fully participating in practice, Alejado garnered praise for his dedication. "He's been kind of aggressive on his rehab process, and then again, there's a game plan that has to go in and so he’s dialed in," Chang indicated in a statement obtained by Hawaii News Now. The team is set to fly to Tucson on Thursday, with kickoff scheduled on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Hawaii time.
Last week, Alejado was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week after completing 27 of 39 passes for 210 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions against Stanford. Left guard Zhen Sotelo said, "We’re truly confident in all our quarterbacks," according to Spectrum Local News. Alejado’s playing time for the next game has not been decided. Hawaii will play Arizona in an inter-conference game on TNT.
