The Wake County Soil and Water Conservation District has opened its annual “We All Live in a Watershed” Conservation Poster Contest for students in grades 3 through 5. Eligible participants include students from public, private, charter, home schools, and youth clubs across Wake County, as per the Wake County government website.

The contest encourages students to create posters explaining what watersheds are, why they are important, and how to protect them. Teachers must register their classes by November 3. The deadline for poster submissions is December 3, with district-level judging scheduled for December 10. Winners will advance to regional and state contests in Spring 2026.

District winners will receive framed certificates and cash prizes: $50 for first place and $25 for second place. Regional winners can earn $100, while state-level prizes include $200 for first place and $100 for second place. Every participant will receive a ribbon for their submission.

Last year, the contest included nine schools, 22 teachers, and about 280 students. Previous winners came from Green Hope, Highcroft Drive, and Adams Elementary schools.
