The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has embraced another weekend filled with intensive work to forward its pavement preservation project on Interstate 215 (I-215), a stretch connecting the I-15 interchange and Windmill Lane. According to their revised timetable, traffic limitations will be in place to enable a slew of enhancements over close to four miles of the interstate.
Starting from last Friday, at 7:00 p.m. until tomorrow, 10:00 a.m., drivers should expect westbound I-215 to be reduced to two lanes from I-15 to Windmill Lane and to one lane during nighttime hours from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. In an effort to slowly prepare the concrete surface, crews will engage in milling and paving operations, the application of a polymer overlay, plus upgrades to traffic signals and lighting. The series of closures is expected to continue throughout the week, affecting both on-ramps and off-ramps with nightly closures to promote the safety of those who work to restore and renew our public ways.
As stated on the NDOT website, weekend work will also necessitate the closure of both the eastbound and westbound Warm Springs Rd on-ramps to westbound I-215 from 7:00 p.m. today to 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. The eastbound side of I-215 will similarly see a reduction to two lanes during nightly periods from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., starting tomorrow and stretching until Thursday.
Further restrictions will be in place for westbound travel on I-215 from Windmill Lane to I-15, also expected to be confined to two lanes nightly from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on select dates throughout the week. Notably, traffic impact extends towards the local street level, with the westbound 215 off-ramp to Las Vegas Blvd and the left lane of Hidden Well Rd from Gilespie St to Las Vegas Blvd set to close overnight on Tuesday. NDOT encourages motorists to exercise caution and consider alternative detours, while also offering real-time traffic details via nvroads.com or their 511 service line.
