West Sacramento is about to seriously up its game in the entertainment scene with the opening of The Boulevard, a sprawling 37,000 square-foot complex that promises to be a one-stop destination for fun seekers. Strategically planted in a once-vacant Safeway storefront on West Capitol Avenue, The Boulevard is adding not just another arcade or bowling alley to the city's roster, but a full-fledged entertainment hub complete with a restaurant and bar, laser tag, billiards, and an overwhelming array of screens for sports aficionados.
Mark your calendars, because according to a release on BLVD's website, this highly anticipated venue will officially start to welcome guests on August 8, 2025. Those looking to get a sneak peek—and not incredibly averse to shelling out a little charitable dough—can snag a spot at the VIP Preview Event on August 6. The ritzy pre-opening party promises a champagne welcome, appetizers galore, and a first crack at the venue's myriad attractions for a $53 ticket, with all proceeds benefitting local charities like Loaves & Fishes, Habitat for Humanity, and the Yolo County Children's Alliance.
"West Sacramento is growing, and we're super happy to be a part of everything that is happening for West Sacramento," Tami Thompson, the director of marketing, told CBS News Sacramento. Thompson also mentioned that the placement of The Boulevard is key, as its proximity to Interstate 80 and Sutter Health Park will make it a regional draw. Beyond mere access, the entertainment venue will aggressively attempt to lure crowds with its over 65 cutting-edge arcade games and a twist on traditional bowling they call "spark bowling," featuring lanes that light up to track the path of the ball.
For those more inclined to live sports than participatory gaming, The Boulevard won't disappoint – it's slated to sport a staggeringly large "wow" wall that measures 17 feet across. This behemoth of a screen guarantees you won't miss a single A's pitch or tackle in the coming football season. With 30 additional TVs and five cinematic screens peppered across the bowling area, The Boulevard is banking on becoming a sports fan's haven within steps of Major League Baseball action. "You can come watch the A's game, come after the game, we're trying to be a regional attraction for the greater Sacramento area," Thompson articulated in her interview with CBS News Sacramento.
