Following a thorough investigation into a shooting that occurred early in July, Wilmington Police have made an arrest, bringing a 23-year-old woman into custody on multiple charges. The incident, which left a 24-year-old female with gunshot wounds, took place on the 1100 block of Pleasant Street. The Wilmington Police reported that the victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.
23-year-old Jada James became the prime suspect in the case, which was led by Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division. The arrest came after detectives executed a search warrant on August 7 in the 2600 block of North Monroe Street, where James was apprehended without any further incidents, according to official reports.
James is currently facing a string of charges, including Second Degree Assault, Aggravated Menacing, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Criminal Mischief Under $1,000, and Discharging a Firearm on a City Street. After her arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 20, she was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution, with a cash-only bail set at $23,600.
