A Wilsonville man has been sentenced to 55 months in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges including assault and driving under the influence, following a car crash that left three people injured. Raul Emilio Vazquez, 24, admitted to his role in the November 17, 2024, accident, and faced a Clackamas County Circuit Court on Wednesday.

Vazquez was behind the wheel of a Ford F-250 pickup truck when he struck a 2012 Honda Accord at the intersection of Southwest Wilsonville Road and Interstate 5. The collision, which occurred just before 1 a.m., resulted in serious injuries for two of the Honda's occupants. According to Clackamas County officials, one passenger suffered a broken pelvis, collarbone, and additional seven broken ribs. All victims, in their mid-20s, were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

In the moments following the crash, Vazquez fled the scene on foot, abandoning his vehicle and the injured parties. His absence did not last long as law enforcement officers located and apprehended him at his apartment shortly after. His plea in court acknowledged two counts of Assault in the Third Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, and failure to perform the duties of a driver to injured persons. As part of a plea agreement, several property-related charges were dismissed.
