CBS 17 reported that the event occurred around 12:09 a.m. earlier today, near the intersection of Poole Road and Carya Drive. Raleigh police provided a statement detailing the response to the incident and the subsequent transport of the victim to a nearby hospital; the woman’s condition remains severe.
The driver of the SUV, who was involved in the incident, showed no signs of impairment and has been cooperating with the investigation – there were no arrests or charges immediately reported, this according to information from the Raleigh Police Department shared by WRAL. The area was closed off for some time, with police activity evident, creating a barrier along Poole Road between Old Poole Road and New Hope Road and documenting the scene through evidence markers seen by eyewitnesses around 1:45 a.m.
Evidence gathering carried on into the early hours, as marked by road closures and the police surveying the SUV in question; the investigation continues to unfold.
