The doors of democracy are staying open longer this weekend in Wright County, with extended hours for those looking to cast their votes early. In an effort to accommodate residents' schedules and increase voter turnout, the Wright County Government Center is extending its early voting period on Saturday, August 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
According to an announcement on the Wright County website, eager voters are directed to the Taxpayer Services Counter on the first floor of the government center if they wish to participate in early voting. Hoping to attract a large crowd, the county officials made the decision to add the extra hours, setting the stage for a potentially higher early voter turnout than in past elections.
Additionally, the county elections will also remain open beyond its usual time, until 5 p.m. on Monday, August 25, providing yet another opportunity for residents to beat the Election Day rush. The importance of casting a ballot has been heavily emphasized in the lead-up to these extended hours, as a testament to the community's commitment to a thriving civic life.
For voters who might not be able to make it in person, the Wright County Government Center is also accommodating them. Those who have received an absentee ballot via mail are "encouraged to return your ballot in-person at the Wright County Government Center to ensure that your ballot is counted," according to the official announcement. This measure addresses those uncertain about their mail-in ballots reaching their destination in time for their votes to be tallied effectively.
