
A 21-year-old man died in a single-vehicle crash on Monday night on I-75 in Oakland County. The crash happened around 11:19 p.m. near Maple Road. The driver of the BMW was ejected from the vehicle and later died at a hospital, according to CBS News Detroit.
Troy Police said a white BMW went off the road near 600 Stephenson Highway, hit a tree, and ejected the driver, who later died at the hospital. A 19-year-old passenger was seriously hurt, had surgery, and is in stable condition. The crash closed three lanes of southbound I-75, which reopened around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, as mentioned by ClickOnDetroit.
Authorities are investigating a crash that may have been caused by speeding. The Detroit News reported that the BMW involved was traveling at a high rate of speed before the driver lost control. Michigan State Police said traffic deaths in the state have risen to 715 this year, an increase from last year.
