Arapahoe County has officially unveiled a new outdoor haven for residents and nature enthusiasts alike. Sand Lily Park, situated at 8880 E. Mexico Drive, opened its gates to the public, providing a serene escape with a variety of recreational options. Visitors can now enjoy the half-mile gravel walking trail, engage in picnicking, or simply immerse themselves in the tranquility of being outdoors.
The park, sprawling across 4.5 acres, was named after the Sand Lily, a flower frequently spotted on the property. Those looking to savor the new space can access it via E. Mexico Drive and Parker Road. And while the park is just beginning to serve the community, Leslie Summey, chair of the Board of County Commissioners, expressed her enthusiasm about the potential that lies ahead. According to Arapahoe County, "We are excited to open the property so neighbors can enjoy taking walks, being in nature, and being active close to home,” Summey said.
For now, the park offers basic amenities that include picnic tables and trash cans, ensuring visitors can enjoy their stay comfortably and leave no trace behind. It operates under the county's park rules and regulations, with the local Sheriff’s Office responsible for enforcement.
