The City of Arlington is set to host an information session on Program Year 2026 HUD grant funding. It's happening from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, and will take place in the Council Chamber at 101 W. Abram St., according to the City of Arlington.
The free workshop is designed for organizations eyeing federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs, which include Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). Participants will be given an overview of the available funding, eligibility requirements, and application criteria. Specifically, with an estimated $465,000 for CDBG Public Services, capable of supporting around 25 awards in the range of $10,000 to $40,000 each, an important funding note is that the cap for public services doesn't apply to infrastructure or CBDO awards.
Moreover, the ESG program has earmarked $169,000 for shelter and street outreach, with an additional $84,000 being allocated for rapid rehousing and homeless prevention initiatives. Meanwhile, HOME Investment Partnerships boast a $1,145,000 pot, which includes a set-aside of $172,000 for CHDOs (Community Housing Development Organizations). While the numbers may seem stark, they represent a beacon of hope for those entangled in the city's ongoing housing challenges.
