Nonprofits and housing developers in Arlington, sharpen your pencils and get ready to jot down some notes. The City of Arlington is hosting a workshop to guide local service providers through the labyrinth of federal funding. Scheduled for October 23, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the Program Year 2026 Funding Availability Workshop will be the place to be for organizations eyeing U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grants.
At the heart of the workshop is the opportunity to learn about Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs. An overview of the available funding, eligibility criteria, and application requirements for the next grant cycle will be on the table. With an expected $465,000 dedicated to public services under the CDBG program, the aroma of opportunity is in the air, especially with an estimated 25 awards up for grabs.
In what might be a golden opportunity for those in the business of change, Arlington's Council Chamber at 101 W. Abram St. will transform into a classroom where life-changing funding can be accessed. The ESG program is breaking down its funding into $169,000 for shelter and street outreach, plus another $84,000 for rapid rehousing and homeless prevention. Meanwhile, the HOME Investment Partnerships boast a robust $1,145,000, which includes a set-aside of $172,000 for Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs).
