The Austin Police Department has reportedly made a significant break in a drug trafficking case with the arrest of a 33-year-old man. The raid, taking place at 91 Red River Street, followed a lengthy investigation into drug distribution within the city's downtown and East Austin areas. Jesse Carrillo, a Hispanic male, was arrested on September 3, 2025, and is facing charges for money laundering and delivery of a controlled substance, according to a statement released by the APD.
In the course of the search warrant execution, investigators seized a considerable amount of drugs and cash—over $200,000 in currency and substances ranging from marijuana and cocaine to THC vape cartridges and psilocybin-laced candy bars. Carillo, taken into custody without incident, has been charged with a second-degree felony for money laundering and a first-degree felony for delivery of a controlled substance, the APD reported.
Details of the seizure reflect the extent of the operation: over 20 pounds of marijuana, 194 THC vape cartridges, nearly 3 kilograms of candy bars suspected to be laced with psilocybin, and a stash of cocaine. The APD's Narcotics Support Unit, specialized in tackling organized drug networks, has signaled a clear intent to disrupt these operations and reaffirmed its commitment to Austin's community safety.
While Carillo is currently facing serious charges, additional felony charges are also pending as the investigation continues. Anyone with information about narcotics activity is urged to reach out to the APD Narcotics Tipline or the Capital City Crime Stoppers, who provide avenues for anonymous tips.
