This commendation resulted from a nomination by none other than Captain Josh Cameron, a member of the National Guard or Reserve with a significant tenure encompassing about 13 years in the City of Avondale, and over two decades in both the fire service and military. Through a statement obtained by the City of Avondale's official website, Cameron praised the Avondale Fire and Medical Department for their enduring support, which has enabled him to meet his military obligations without fail, while also balancing the demands of being a firefighter, a husband, and a father.
Chief Larry Rooney, upon receipt of the Patriot Award, emphasized the significance of such recognition.
