Bays Mountain Park will begin renovations on its water tanks starting October 2, with work expected to be completed by early December, weather permitting. The park will remain open during this period, but visitors should plan ahead as some amenities will be temporarily unavailable.
According to an announcement from the City of Kingsport, the traditional restrooms and water fountains will be unavailable during construction, leaving no tap water for drinking or handwashing. In their place, portable toilets and handwashing stations will be set up throughout the park. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own water, though vending machines in the Nature Center will still offer drinks for purchase.
For trail enthusiasts, the Chestnut Trail entrance may be dusty during the first weeks of construction. Sandblasting at the water tower could create a sandy haze, so visitors are advised to wear eye protection and exercise caution while hiking. Despite the temporary disruptions, Bays Mountain Park remains open for visitors to enjoy its vast landscapes and wildlife. For more details on the construction, park programs, stargazing events, or the resident wolves, check the park’s official website.
