The Boston Police Department's Ice Hockey Skills Program recently added another notch to its community engagement belt with a visit from a sweet surprise – the BPD Ice Cream Truck. After an intensive on-ice session working on essential hockey skills, young participants in the District A-7 program received a cool treat that certainly served as the cherry on top of an energetic day.

According to the BPDnews, skills on focus were edge work, stick handling, and decision making, key components that the BPD believes will not only enhance the athletic prowess of these young individuals but also foster decision-making skills valuable both on and off the ice. The session concluded with the participants delighting in well-deserved ice cream, courtesy of the BPD Ice Cream Truck.

The program, thanks to partnerships with community organizations, has been aiding in the development of youth through sport. FMC Ice Sports has been instrumental in providing the ice for the past five years. The Boston Police Foundation's COP fund and HP Hood have also been staunch supporters, ensuring that the program continues to offer valuable experiences for children in the Boston area.

For parents interested in enrolling their kids into the mix of sportsmanship and camaraderie, the District A-7 Community Service Office is welcoming inquiries. They can be reached at 617-343-4752, or for information on this and other youth programs, visit the Youth Programs page on the BPDnews website.
