Boston residents can look forward to a bounty of sunshine with seasonally cool temperatures to mark the weekend. According to NOAA's National Weather Service, today's weather is "mostly sunny, with a high near 69" and a light eastward wind picking up in the afternoon.
As we move into the night, the skies will remain partly cloudy, and temperatures are expected to dip to around 49 degrees. Southeast winds will gently breeze through at 5 to 7 mph, then calming after midnight. The incoming week promises to slowly ramp up the warmth. As reported by Boston 25 News, "Next week, southerly winds will help to usher in warmer temperatures with highs reaching the low 70s Monday (first day of Fall) and pushing 80 by Tuesday."
Light winds and clear skies tonight will contribute to the coolest temperatures this season especially away from the coast. There's potential for some inland spots to experience the season's first frosts, and accordingly Frost Advisories have been issued for parts of southern New England, while further north freeze warnings are in effect.
Looking ahead, both sources indicate changes are coming by midweek. According to NOAA, a "slight chance of showers between 2pm and 5pm" on Tuesday, followed by a possibility of showers and thunderstorms. By Wednesday, there's a 50% chance of precipitation, dropping slightly to 40% by evening. In harmony, Boston 25 News warns of the "next chance for showers and storms looks to arrive late Tuesday into Wednesday," with the details still to be determined.
