Boulder's local recreation scene is about to get a digital facelift with the upcoming introduction of a new Recreation Management Software (RMS), SmartRec by Amilia, scheduled for November. The City of Boulder is initiating the change in hopes of streamlining the process of community engagement in its recreational offerings. According to the City of Boulder, SmartRec is set to take over from the previously used system, ActiveNet, aiming to deliver a more digitally accessible experience for users.
"We are thrilled to introduce a more user-friendly software," remarked Ali Rhodes, Director of Parks and Recreation, in a statement obtained by the City of Boulder. This transition to SmartRec looks to simplify processes for residents, making it easier to sign up for classes, reserve spaces, and visit facilities. Despite the promise of a smoother interface, questions loom over how residents will adapt to this new system. The integration will become effective on Friday, Nov. 14, with pre-existing members expected to receive email instructions on setting up their SmartRec account starting Monday, Nov. 3.
For members concerned about keeping their recreational costs in check, the Health Equity Fund provides funding that enables qualifying members to apply for financial help. Interested parties can reapply for the Parks and Recreation Financial Program as of Thursday, Nov. 14. This opportunity is extended through the end of December 2026. More information on this financial aid will be made available on the program's dedicated webpage, the city has announced.
