
The Brevard County community is grappling with the aftermath of a tragic incident that unfolded on Interstate 95 early yesterday, where a wrong-way collision resulted in the death of three individuals and injuries to several others. According to WFTV, the multi-vehicle crash, involving at least eight cars, occurred just south of Wickham Road around 4 a.m., creating a scene of destruction and dismay that left northbound lanes closed for hours.
The collision was reportedly set in motion when a 34-year-old Cocoa woman, driving a 2020 Toyota Corolla, proceeded southward in the northbound lanes of I-95, resulting in a head-on collision with a 2014 Chevrolet Impala, the ClickOrlando detailed, a series of consequent crashes followed that ensnared multiple vehicles including a Hyundai Tiburon, Honda CR-V, and others down to a Ford Escape, which ultimately left the chaotic expanse of wreckage strewn across the interstate.
Victims of this catastrophic event included the driver of the Corolla, as well as Winston Willis, a 34-year-old man from Holly Hill, and a 46-year-old woman, also from Holly Hill, both of whom were in the Impala and pronounced dead at the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the individuals killed were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Furthermore, several others incurred various injuries, ranging from minor to serious but non-life-threatening, and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
